Nature: Sodium saccharin, also known as soluble saccharin, is the sodium salt of saccharin, with two crystal water, colorless crystal or slightly white crystalline powder, generally contains two crystal water, easy to lose crystal water to form anhydrous Saccharin, a white powder, odorless or slightly fragrant, sweet and bitter. The sweetness is about 500 times that of sucrose. Heat and alkali resistance are weak, the heating sweetness is gradually disappeared under acidic conditions, and the solution is greater than 0.026%.
Toxicity: The oral LD50 of mice was 17.5 g/kg body weight; the oral LD50 of rabbits was 4 g/kg body weight; the maximum oral dose of rats was 0.5 g/kg. FAO/WHO (1984) tentatively: ADI is 0~0.0025g/kg body weight.
Uses: 1, food: general cold drinks, beverages, jellies, popsicles, pickles, candied fruit, cakes, preserved fruit, protein sugar and so on. It is used in the food industry and diabetic patients for sweetened diets, commonly used synthetic sweeteners. 2, feed additives: pig feed, sweeteners, etc. 3, daily chemical industry: toothpaste, mouthwash, eye drops, etc. 4, electroplating industry: electroplating grade sodium saccharin is mainly used in electroplating nickel, is used as a brightener. Adding a small amount of sodium saccharin can increase the brightness and softness of electroplated nickel. The general use amount is 0.1--0.3 g per liter of syrup
